What should I do if I have knowledge of an animal that is being abused or neglected?
Call the Metro Animal Care and Control immediately at 862-7928, 862-7929 or 862-7930.
Does NHA currently have space to take in an animal?
Due to the high volume of requests to bring animals to the shelter, we ask that appointments be made. Please call 615-354-6336 between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm to make an appointment.
Does NHA offer low-cost spay and neuter services?
Yes - we offer two spay/neuter options!
Those who qualify for the ROVER program can make an appointment for free spay/neuter of their pets.

We also offer discounted spay and neuter certificates that are provided through Friends of Animals. The cost is as follows:
Male Dogs: $64.00
Female Dogs: $90.00
Male Cats: $51.00
Female Cats: $65.00
You may purchase these certificates at the shelter. We will provide you with a list of area veterinarians who participate in this program.
Does NHA have a waiting list for people looking for a certain breed of animal?
No, the volume of requests is such that we encourage people to call as often as they like to see what is currently available or check the NHA website (www.nashvillehumane.org) adoption pages for regular updates to our available animal lists:
