The following positions are currently available:

 

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR


Reports to: Development Director
Hours: Part-time, Saturdays or Sundays as needed
Salary: To be discussed


Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Journalism, Conflict Resolution or related field. Exceptional skills in verbal communication, writing and public speaking. Ability to manage multiple projects at once is pertinent to the success of this position. Computer knowledge and organizational skills are a must. Experience with animals helpful. Ability to work will all age groups and physically or mentally disadvantaged. Previous volunteer management desired. Ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional customer service and will promote professional, positive conduct and demeanor within the volunteer program.


Occupational Hazards: Animal hair and dandruff, possibility of domestic and wild animal bites. Exposure to potentially communicable disease, such as ringworm, rabies, etc. Applicants should be free of allergies, asthma or back problems.


Duties and Responsibilities:


• Recruit and organize volunteers so they are utilized to the fullest benefit of the NHA staff and the animals we care for
• Maintain a list of special projects and skilled areas where volunteers/groups will be scheduled to assist NHA staff
• Receive and respond to emails and phone calls
• Input volunteer applications and maintain the volunteer database
• Implement volunteer recognition programs
• Take a proactive leadership role in conflict resolution when issues arise with volunteers
• Develop and attend, with designated staff, volunteer training programs in various work areas of the agency (i.e. dog walking, cat socialization, etc.)
• Submit and operate within departmental budget, and maintain a Standard Operating Procedure Manual for the department
• Coordinate volunteer support of NHA special events working in conjunction with the Development Director, PR & Events Manger and Executive Director
• Coordinate and implement annual Critter Camp program
• Develop a strong knowledge of NHA’s programs, services, and history for use when giving tours to volunteer groups
• Develop and maintain volunteer manuals, brochures, etc.


In addition to the above tasks and responsibilities, other related duties may be assigned.
