Lost and Found Pets
What to do if you've lost your pet
Act immediately!
- Notify your local shelters, veterinary hospitals, Metro Animal Control, The Tennessean classifieds.
- Notify the Nashville Humane Association; complete a lost pet report describing the pet's:
- Appearance: breed, coat type, ears, tail, age, weight, sex, color, etc.
- Identification: tags, microchip, etc.
- Location: where your pet lives, when and where your pet was last seen
- Email the report to sherrie@nashvillehumane.org
- Include a photo of the pet
What to do if you found a pet
- Notify veterinary hospitals, Metro Animal Control and place a found ad in The Tennessean classifieds.
- Complete a found pet report describing the pet's:
- Appearance: breed, coat type, ears, tail, age, weight, sex, color, etc.
- Identification: tags, etc.
- Location: where you found the pet
- Email the report to sherrie@nashvillehumane.org
- Include a photo of the pet
- Take the animal to your vet or local shelter to be scanned for a microchip; this could quickly lead you to the owner
You may also want to make up lost/found flyers to place in the area where you lost or found the pet.
