Director's Message

January 2017

Dear Friends,

Happy 2017! We cannot thank you enough for all your support and for making 2016 another outstanding year for the animals. Thanks to you, last year we placed 3,801 animals in loving, caring homes, and NHA’s spay and neuter programs were also hard at work controlling pet overpopulation – a top priority for our agency! Our surgical teams performed a record 8,777 surgeries last year, and they will continue to do all they can to help animals and families in need.

2016 was a year focused on the needs of the community. The Homeless Commission asked NHA to assist the homeless population in caring for their animals in severe weather, so when.... 25 degrees, Rover acts as a warming station set up next to the Metro shelters. This allows us to provide a safe, warm environment for the animals, while the pet owners sleep in a warm bed at night without worry. We were also honored and humbled again to be selected the “Best Non-Profit” and “Best Place to Adopt a Pet” by Nashville Scene in 2016, and we continue to maintain our 4-star charity rating from Charity Navigator, reassuring our donors that we are committed to being good stewards of your funding support.

Andrew Carnegie once said, “Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” The accomplishments of 2016 were only achieved by everyone: staff, our community, and our supporters all working together. We did achieve uncommon results. Working together we will accomplish much more in 2017.

On behalf of all the animals and families we serve, please accept my appreciation and thanks for your on-going support.

Warmest Regards,

Joy Beach, Executive Director
